We got a new roof!

A couple of weeks ago, we had some really bad storms that came through.  They were so bad, they weather channels recommended that we get ready to get into our safe spot in case of a tornado.  There was a tornado that went through up North and did some damage. Luckily, we only had straight winds and a lot of rain.  Unfortunately, the storms did quite a bit of damage to our shingle roof.  A bunch of the shingles fell off and were scattered over our backyard.  Our bay window started leaking, so much so we had to put a trash can under it.  Our ceiling is all wood and one of the wood slats popped off.  That might tell you how much rain we got that night. Instead of fixing our shingle roof, we decided we would get a new, metal roof!  A metal roof will last forever and is more energy efficient.  The silver color that we got reflects the sun, which will help during the Summer.  Every ten years or so, you’re supposed to call your roofer out and have him check out the screws that were used on the roof.  Sometimes they need to be replaced.  Anyway, with the weather out here a metal roof is the way to go and we’re so happy with ours!

I can’t help but look at this picture and dream about all of the things I want to do to our house like paint, landscape, etc. but all of those are just that, things and they can wait.  So, until then I will dream and plan until it’s just the way I want it when I picture it in my head.  One day when we have the time and energy, we will tackle those dreams.  Right now, we’ve got other things on our plate and we’re enjoying every minute of starting our farm and fixing up our farmhouse!
