The thought of worms in any animal can make your skin crawl, as it does theirs I’m sure. Goats seem to be the first animal that comes to mind when the topic of deworming comes up, but there are actually plenty of types of worms that can infest chickens.

There are a couple of different options when it comes to deworming chickens, such as medicated feed, water soluble solutions, and so on. However, I’m all about natural, inexpensive methods, especially when you have a large flock.

With the fall season in full swing, I thought I’d share a fall related chicken dewormer and that is pumpkins! Pumpkin seeds are a great, natural way to deworm your chickens and they love them! When you’re done carving pumpkins this fall season, take the inside scraps and seeds and feed them to your chickens. They’ll have a field day and it will protect against worms as well! If you have any other deworming tips, leave them in the comments below!

That is some great info Court. And they do love them. You can also sprinkle their food with diatomacious earth (DE) and it will kill the worms. You can also sprinkle some where they take a dust bath to rid them of mites.

Ooo good idea! I’m definitely going to try that. I’ve heard DE can be a cure all like garlic.
