Third Trimester Bumpdate

Third Trimester Bumpdate

The past few months have been a whirlwind and I’ve been a little MIA over here on the blog, but a lot of exciting stuff has been going on. We are over the moon excited to have a little boy running around here and we can’t wait to see Oakley take on the big sister role! Andrew can’t wait to have another little farm hand!

I’ve been feeling great, especially since school is out for summer. I love spending my days with Oakley. We love to swim, color, read books, water the garden, cuddle the kittens, pet Pete, chase the chickens, and watch Maggie and Georgia. I’m really soaking up and cherishing every moment since it will be our last summer just the two of us.

I haven’t had any weird cravings but the one thing that always sounds good to me is a bean and cheese burrito. I also think he will like beef more than chicken. Oakley prefers chicken over beef any day but beef has sounded better to me this time around. Garlic and onions are still a no go just like they were when I was pregnant with Oakley.

I passed my glucose test, which was a pretty eventful day. I think I’ll forever be remembered as the lady that brought her meowing kitten to her hour long glucose appointment. Our little kitten George Strait rode by my engine from our house to the doctors office. Luckily I didn’t have to get on the interstate but it was still a 20 minute ride. When I got there, I heard meowing and my heart sank. A state trooper happened to be watching pregnant old me crawl under my car to get my kitten out and offered to help.

I walked into the doctor’s office and said, “I’m not sure whether to laugh or to cry.” Everyone in the waiting room and all of the staff couldn’t stop laughing and as I sat in the waiting room cradling my meowing (very loudly might I add) kitten, I got some strange looks as patients came and left the doctor’s office. After all of that, I was told that I passed my glucose test and surprisingly, my blood pressure was normal too. Not sure how I pulled that off between the panic and tears.

Lately, I’ve been falling asleep later and waking up earlier. My hips bother me a little at night every once in a while and I miss sleeping on my back but it’s nothing to complain about. Oakley loves to kiss my belly and say, “I love you brother.” She is so nurturing and loves to help that I think the big sister role will come naturally to her. Although, she is pretty attached to me so I’m sure it will take some adjusting. She loves to feed her baby dolls bottles and I think she will enjoy helping take care of her little brother.

We had a great baby shower with our family friends and we felt so loved. It is crazy how many family and friends love him even though they haven’t met him yet. I was overwhelmed(in the best way possible) by the love and excitement everyone has for our little guy. His nursery is coming right along too. I’m looking forward to sharing that and Oakley’s big girl room soon!

I day dream about nerf gun fights, tractors, rodeos, football, baseball, hot wheels, trains, and whatever else he might like. I can’t wait to hold him, meet him, and see what he looks like. I wonder who he’ll look more like and if him and Oakley will look really similar. I’m so ready for newborn snuggles and to experience all of the firsts with him. We’re less than 3 months away and have yet to come up with a name. Oakley is named after Annie Oakley so it only seems fitting that he has a little cowboy name. If you have any suggestions, I’d love to hear them in the comments below!
